Plattsburgh Dominates Morrisville With Fifty Shot Assault

With the Oswego game being the only black mark on the Cardinals' season thus far, it was safe to say Plattsburgh would regroup and be in solid form during tonight's visit to Morrisville. Williams was given the nod for starting in goal for Plattsburgh, with junior goaltender Caylin Relkoff getting the call for the Mustangs.
To their credit, Morrisville has developed into a solid team over the last few years. This is their third season in the SUNYAC conference, and arguably they have been a nice addition over the deadweight which occupies a good portion of the conference.
True to form, Plattsburgh made it clear they were going to control the night. While both teams played a fairly even first period, Plattsburgh would take a 1-0 lead with a goal from Paul Puglisi at 10:26.
The second period, however, was where Plattsburgh would unleash its fury. Mike Grace, Cody Adams, and Mike Kavanagh would light up the scoreboard within the first ten minutes of play (at 3:19, 5:59, and 9:53) to put Plattsburgh up 4-0. Morrisville's Adam Laite would not leave those goals unanswered, though, and managed to sneak one past Cardinal goaltender Ryan Williams at 15:34 late in the second period. Despite facing a barrage of fifty shots on goal, Morrisville goaltender Caylin Relkoff put up a valiant effort but could only do so much against the Cardinal offensive. Ian DeLong would seal the deal for Plattsburgh with a third period goal at 11:40; with the Cards earning a 5-1 win.
Although we won't be seeing Plattsburgh on home ice until December 4th (when they host Potsdam), there is some comfort knowing we do have live radio/internet coverage from local station WIRY to keep us abreast of the action. I would like to personally thank both Coach Emery and Ducky Drake (the voice of Cardinal Hockey on WIRY) for the mention on "Behind the Bench." Although they both clearly disagree with my assessment of some blatant flaws in the Cards and "flowery" writing, it is a pleasure to have them reading just the same. Go Cards!

The live broadcast had indicated Plattsburgh wound up with fifty (50) shots on goal; however in the final box score the total was actually listed as forty-seven shots.

game was not as lop sided as would think by score and questionable shot count
I totally agree. Morrisville is definitely developing a solid program. I think of all the SUNYAC teams (excluding Plattsburgh and Oswego) that they may be the sleeper team of the season. Plattsburgh has consistently been on fire during the second period, and last night only underscored that reality for sure.
