What To Do When iTunes 8.2 Crashes During Your iPhone 3GS Sync

My afternoon began like any other.  I had just finished cleaning up after lunch and was ready to give my iPhone 3GS its afternoon sync/charge.  I was surprised, though, when I watched the sync process kick off and then completely crash iTunes 8.2.

That was odd.  I tried it again.  And again.  And again.  After several complete iTunes crashes, I was a little concerned.  What on earth could be the problem here?  I unplugged the iPhone 3GS and ran iTunes on its own.  It was completely fine.  At this point, I figured all I would need to do is close iTunes, relaunch it, and then plug in my iPhone 3GS and sync.

Wrong.  Something was definitely not right.  In all my years of using iTunes, it has performed flawlessly.  Not only was this unusual, but mildly disconcerting.  The iPhone 3GS had been humming along without fail; this must be something corrupt or screwy in iTunes.  Bummer.

I had ultimately decided on reinstalling iTunes to see if that would correct whatever problem was at hand. Thankfully, it did.  My library is intact, and my iPhone 3GS and iTunes are making sweet love together...without issue.  I am only mildly content with this solution, and I will be looking forward to an iTunes 8.2.1 release that should address this kind of problem.
