Apple Fail: Daylight Savings Time Adjustment Delays Alarms 1 Hour

2010.11.08 Apple Alarm One Hour Late Due to Daylight Savings BugSometimes, there are classic eff-ups in the world that just cannot go unnoticed. For Apple, who would have guessed that the change from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time would wreak havoc with alarms on the iPhone 4 (and other devices running iOS 4)?
My iPhone 4 has an alarm (using Apple's clock app) scheduled to wake me up with a cutesy "Rise and shine" message at 5am during the week. Earlier today, I sleepily rolled over in my blankets and noticed the time was...5:33am? That's odd. I made my way out and proceeded to get ready for the day - smirking because my coffeemaker managed to adjust to the time change and brew a delicious pot of coffee without incident.
A short while later, my iPhone 4 came roaring to life - with bells ringing and my cutesy "Rise and shine" message displaying...at 6am.
I heard reports of the Daylight Savings Bug causing all sorts of headaches and tardiness over in Europe (around November 1st of this year), but for some reason I was hoping Apple would have resolved that problem by now. In their infinite wisdom, Apple simply decided to let the same thing happen here in the States.
There is no excuse for this kind of sloppiness. Some have suggested clearing up this problem by deleting and recreating your alarms; which is going to be my next step in combatting this ridiculous flaw. Perhaps the bigger question is trying to understand why Apple didn't feel the need to roll out a bug fix for something that already was a press relations nightmare one week ago. Shame on you.
